We composed a fresh tune with great dignity for the podcast “Het Rotterdams slavernijverleden” by Vers Beton.
In 2023 it will be 150 years since slavery was abolished. In the run-up to the Keti Koti commemoration on 1 July, Vers Beton is publishing a series of stories about Rotterdam’s colonial history and the city’s slavery past. The authors of these stories talk about their research and how they proceeded. They talk to each other about what these stories mean for Rotterdammers today, and how this history still affects the present.
